In short
This is small, rural coastal country, and there isn't much for miles. Our own kitchen is the easiest meal — hot breakfast every morning and pizza & wings in the evening — but for groceries and supplies you'll want to stock up in a bigger town on the way in.
We'll be straight with you: Engelhard is a small fishing village, and dining and supplies out here are limited. That's part of the appeal for a lot of our guests, but it pays to come prepared. Here's the honest rundown.
Eating at the inn
The simplest meal you'll find is the one right here. Every morning we put out a hot home-cooked breakfast — grits, eggs, bacon, muffins, oatmeal — and it's famously cheap. It's a real breakfast to start a day of fishing or driving, not a sad little continental tray.
In the evenings our kitchen serves pizza and wings from 5 to 9. The thin-crust pizza runs about ten dollars and does the job after a long day. It's plain, honest food, and on a night when there's nothing else open for miles, it's a welcome thing to have under the same roof as your bed.
Groceries, fuel, and supplies
Beyond our kitchen, there's very little else close by. A small village doesn't carry much in the way of groceries, so don't plan to do a big shop once you're here. The smart move is to stock up in a larger town on your way in — Belhaven, Washington, or Columbia, depending on which direction you're coming from. Fill the cooler, grab your fuel, and pick up anything you can't do without.
Top off the tank and buy groceries before the remote stretches. Services thin out fast east of Belhaven and Washington, and there's no big store waiting at the end of the road. A little planning saves you a long backtrack.
